Straight answers

Questions we hear a lot.

How much will glasses cost?

Tell Rosemary your budget at the start and she'll show you frames and lenses that fit it. She'll also be honest about which extras are worth paying for and which aren't.

Does OHIP cover eye exams or glasses?

Coverage depends on your age and health, and it changes from time to time, so call us at 613-498-2200 and we'll point you in the right direction. OHIP generally does not pay for glasses themselves.

Which lenses do I need?

It depends on your day: screens, driving, reading, working outdoors. Rosemary will explain the options in plain language and only recommend what you'll actually use.

Can you adjust glasses that slip or pinch?

Usually, yes, and often in a few minutes. Drop in during opening hours and we'll take a look.

Can I bring a prescription from another office?

Yes. Bring it in and we'll help you choose frames and lenses.

Do you have options for low vision?

Yes. If regular glasses aren't enough, call or stop by and tell us what's hard to see. We'll talk through which option might help.

Do you carry Ray-Ban Meta glasses?

We do, and we can fit them with your prescription. Call or drop in to see what's in stock.

Quick guides

Glasses, explained simply.

Progressive lenses

Progressives let you see far away, at arm's length and up close through one lens, with no visible line and no switching between pairs. They take a few days to get used to, so wear them consistently at first and come back if anything feels off.

Anti-reflection coating

It cuts glare and reflections, which helps with screens and night driving and makes your lenses look clearer to others. It's especially worth having with stronger prescriptions and thicker lenses.

Blue light glasses

They filter some of the light that screens give off. The evidence that they reduce eye strain is mixed, so we'd rather talk about how you use screens first. A good fit and the right prescription often matter more.

About Rosemary

Small shop, big expertise.

Rosemary Coleman has been a licensed optician for 40 years, and for the last 14 she has run this shop herself. When you come in, she is the one who listens, fits your glasses and fixes your frames, so you never have to explain yourself twice.

She works with people at every stage, from a first pair to a tricky prescription, and takes the time to explain your options so you leave confident in your choice. The shop is women owned and operated, with an on-site lab, and we can serve you in English or French.

Rosemary is a member of the Opticians Association of Canada and Brockville Women in Business. Our goal is simple: glasses you're happy to wear.
